Medium bright red. A whiff of reduction blows off to reveal scents of strawberry, dried rose and brown spices. Sweet, concentrated and dense, with nicely integrated acidity and lovely floral lift giving shape and freshness to the red fruit flavors. The perfumed finish shows good length and verve. Virgile Lignier eliminated 30% of these grapes, mostly due to underripeness, explaining that cool years are not usually good for Rue de Vergy. This wine was de-acidified and has found its balance today.
